Biodiesel and Ethanol
Biodiesel and Ethanol could and will be a major key to the future of fuels. They both supply an alternative to oil and regular diesel. Biodiesel can be made from almost any natural plant or tree and can be used in any regular diesel engine. Ethanol was originally intended to be the fuel of choice for cars and engines when they were first invented, but due to many worries of not having enough land to produce enough fuel and not raising prices for food it was changed to oil because of it abundance and cheapness. But biodiesels can be made from many different types of organic materials, such as many kinds of grass, soybeans, many other vegetables that can be made into vegetable oils and corn which can produce biodiesel and ethanol. All of these can be grown on non-foodcrop land because it is not intended to be eaten and it won't take space away from regular crop land. All of these would help to clean the air and provide a cheaper and less dependent fuel source. Currently many shipping trucks run off of biodiesels because it is cheaper and they need more fuel than the average car. In the future we can switch more cars to biodiesels and produce more biodiesel as a country to have a renewable, clean and cheaper source of fuels.
