Algol Oil
- Unlike fossil fuels, Biofuel from algae are organic sources that replensih quickly and naturally
- Algae can grow in saltwater or brackish water so farm land will be untouched
- When Algae is harvested and dried it can then be burned like wood to create heat and energy
- Algae produce oils or sugars that can be turned into different fuels: Ethanol, Butanol, Jet and Diseal fuels
- The Process in making Algol Oil is challenging:
- Algae require carbon to grow so the carbon is extracted from the air or from polluting sources like power plants or coal plants
- Algae also use treated wastewater as a main nutrient source and growth
- At a Biorefinery algae grow offshore using carbon, wastewater and sunlight
-Algae must be dewatered before it can be processed
- Once dewatered algol biomass is reduced to its constituent elements with an advanced thermochemical process
